The Badland Texas Rangers have lost one of their own.

On November 18th, 2008 Mike Nelson passes away in Brackettville, Texas. He has been a member for the past six years. He was our group's musician, singer, one of the chuck wagon owners, and an all around good guy.

Mike sang the song about the Texas Ranger "Bass Outlaw" that was used in one of our movies. Mike and his wife Linda worked together to create songs about the Old West.

We are going to miss him tremendously as a friend and a member of our group.

Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum Affiliation:

The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum announces an affiliation and partnership with the Badland Texas Rangers.

The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, the official historical center of the Texas Rangers law enforcement agency, has announced an affiliation and partnership with the Badland Texas Rangers a Texas Ranger living history group based in Sabinal, Texas.

The Badland Texas Rangers will receive sanction and become the primary reenactment group in Texas representing the museum. The TRHFM will provide historical resources and expertise to enhance the presentations of the Badland Texas Rangers.

The Badland Texas Rangers are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) living history organization that represent the Texas Rangers during the Frontier Battalion period of time which was 1874-1901, particularly Company "D" which had such a colorful past. The living history group will become a working partnership with the Waco based museum upon the request of several active and retired Texas Rangers. The concept was discussed over a year ago between the officials of the museum and the Badland Texas Rangers. "We have had a very positive informal relationship with the Badland Texas Rangers for some time," said Byron Johnson, Director of the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame. "The museum and the Badland Texas Rangers believe that there are mutually beneficial educational projects we could accomplish together."

Planning will soon begin on a number of programs including a Junior Ranger summer camp.
